If you have taken a look at our top things to do on Korula Island you will see that this is an Island with lots going on.

Here are some of the events you won’t want to miss out on if you are here on holiday in Korcula this summer!

Many other local events are announced shortly before the event, and we will be updating this page as soon as we hear about them, but here are the ones we know about so far.

Every Thursday starting in June  – The Sword Dance – more information

Friday 16th JuneThe Official Sword Dance Festival where the different dances from various towns in Korcula Island show their traditional Sword Dance.

Friday 30th June – Come and Dance the night away on the streets of Korcula, as the town comes alive to celebrate the Half New Year Carnival Festival. Fancy Dress Parade, and fireworks at midnight. This is an event not to be missed.

Sunday 2nd July – Celebrate one of the things Korcula is known for – The Wine! At The Korcula Wine Festival – enjoy a day tasting the different wines from the various regions on Korcula Island.

Friday 7th July – Stay local on the 7th for the Ribarsko Vece – Fishermans Evening in Lumbarda Square. Enjoy the gastronomic delights as local sell their home-cooked produce. This event takes place every Friday evening in Lumbarda – Happy Days!

Friday 14th July – visit Zrnova to learn about the culture and heritage in this village through the Folklore Evening and Concert held on this evening.

Sunday 16th July – Here in Lumbarda, we have our very own Wine Festival.

The Grk Wine Festival.

And we don’t just hold it once in the Summer months, so don’t worry if you miss this, the first one!

Tuesday 25th July – Take a day trip to Cara for the Lady of Cara field festival – Cultural Programme. Watch the Kumpanija (their traditional sword dance),  Chain Dance and listen to the Crnomiri Brass Orchestra performance.

This day is the feast of St Jacob, the protector of Cara, and christians from all over the world travel here in celebration every year.

Sunday 30th July – The second Grk Wine Festival.

Sunday 30th July – Take an evening drive to Zrnova ( you can find out more about walking and exploring Zrnova here to make a full day trip). But on this day, the 30th July in Zrnova it is ‘Makaruni’ Day. Try your culinary expertise at the ‘Makaruni’ Workshop and learn to make this traditional Korcula dish.

Also in July there is a Jazz Festival – Date To Be Announced – 2 nights of Jazz from contemporary to traditional in the open air theatre.

Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August – Korcula comes alive at the Electrochat – Electronic Festival. Get down to the beat at the party!

Tuesday 15th AugustFeast of Assumption of Mary Our Lady – Sword Dance and Cultural Event

Sunday 20th August to Thursday 24th August – is Opera Week in Korcula Town.

Friday 1st September to Sunday 17th SeptemberKorkyra Baroque Festival.

The biggest music festival on Korcula Island with a wide variety of musicians. Concerts held each night at various venues of significance influence and cultural importance around Korcula. More information here

Saturday 16th to Saturday 23rd SeptemberYoga Retreat Week at The White House Lumbarda – Find out more here

Friday 22nd and 23rd September – Korcula Beer Festival

Also in either September or October is the Flavours of Korcula ‘Korculanske Pjatance’.

To mark Korcula’s growing reputation as a top gastronomic tourist destination local caterers present their gastronomic delights with creative menus from the current seasons vegetations. Date to be confirmed.
